For newspapers, groceries and general supplies, drive or walk to our precious rural post office, two miles away at Bentlont. The market town of Bishop’s Castle (9 miles) has a range of shops including chemist, post-office, banks, a baker’s, two seven-day-a-week supermarkets and a petrol station. It also has several pubs (two of which brew their own beer), and a handful of coffee shops including one located inside a second-hand bookshop. On Fridays, there is a small vegetable and general market in the Town Hall. Bishop's Castle has a character of its own and many of our visitors fall for its quirky charm. http://www.bishops-castle.co.uk/ .
There is also a large supermarket at Churchstoke (on the way to Montgomery) which is called Harry Tuffin’s and is something of a local phenomenon. It sells just about everything, including petrol, and its Sunday morning car-boot sale attracts big local crowds, especially in the summer. For more sophisticated markets, visit Ludlow or Shrewsbury. Telford has a big selection of shopping malls and chain stores.
